Sunday, 10th August, 2008

11.00am-4.00pm

 

A get-together to discuss the show and what is expected during the week. Some general movement and singing work.

 

The students will also be required to complete a short audition comprising part of a scene and a song from the show. This will be taught during the session - you do not need to prepare an audition piece.

 

 

Monday 11th  to Thursday 14th August, 2008

10.00am-4.30pm

 

 

Friday 15th August, 2008

10.00am to the end of the evening performance


 

This will be an intensive course and we will

expect full commitment.

 

Daily attendance is essential

 

During the week, once the parts have been decided, we will go straight into blocking the show and learning the music.  There will be four days for learning words and music, and the fifth day will be spent drawing all strands together ready for the evening performance.

 

Ÿ  Pencils and files will be supplied.

 

Ÿ  Loose, comfortable clothing and soft shoes (preferably jazz shoes or pumps) are recommended. Trainers are not ideal.

 

Ÿ  There will be a half-hour lunch break and short breaks in the morning and afternoon.

 

Ÿ  Students will need to bring a packed lunch each day, plus an evening meal on Friday.

 

Ÿ  Water and orange juice will be supplied.

 

Ÿ  There will be a tuck shop available at lunch and break times.

 

Ÿ  Students will be supervised at all times.

 

Ÿ  No-one may leave the premises during the course hours.


The course fee is £150.00

(This includes membership of the Brookdale Club & Theatre for twelve months.)

 

Please note: We have a waiting list for Brookdale Youth Theatre.  We will accept new members as soon as places are available.

on Friday evening at 7.30pm.

Our theatre accommodates an audience

of 200+

Tickets will be available for family

and friends to enjoy students’ hard work

and an excellent show.

Helen Horridge

 

Helen is a graduate of The London Academy of Music and

Dramatic Arts.  Since graduating, Helen has appeared professionally in television, playing parts in programmes such as ‘Where The Heart Is’, ‘Dalziel and Pascoe’, ‘Shipman’ and ‘Always and Everyone’.   Helen is the principal of her own speech and drama school, which has been established for nine years and has approximately 150 students.  She also taught speech and drama for six years at Greenbank School in Cheadle Hulme.

 

Lesley DonohUE

 

Lesley is an associate of the Royal College of Music, and taught for thirty years in primary schools.  She is now retired, and enjoys playing the piano for her daughter’s speech and drama school.  Lesley has been involved in amateur theatre for over forty years, and has played comedy roles in musicals and plays, some of them opposite her husband Mike.

 

Dominic khouri

 

Dominic graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a degree in Contemporary Theatre and Performance.  He has appeared in numerous productions and this is his fourth Brookdale Summer School Theatre Week, having been assistant director on ‘Guys and Dolls’ and ‘Viva Mexico!’ and co-director of last year’s ‘The Sound of Music’.
